Ancient World Amethyst

Amethyst was used as a gemstone by the ancient Egyptians and was largely employed in engraved gems, the engraving of gems was as a major luxury art form in the ancient world, the Greeks once believed that an amethyst stone could prevent intoxication and others believed it would be protection.
